Half Term Workshops, Activities and Events for May 2019.

We've pulled together a number of family-friendly activities, events and workshops all happening this May Half Term...

Nottingham Contemporary - Colours of Noise (daily from 25th except Monday)

Free family activities. This Half Term, families will be creating noise machines to compose a colourful soundscape. Use their recording booth to turn your small sounds into big noise. No need to book, just drop in and stay as long as you like. Suitable for all ages. NG1 2GB

Rufford Abbey Country Park – A Knights Trail (25th May – 2nd June). Embark on a quest around the Abbey park with their themed Knights Trail. Locate the knight shields, find the clues and gain an awesome prize. No need to pre-book. Time: 10:30am – 16:00pm. Activity sheets are available for £2 at visitor reception. NG22 9DF

Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park – Dragon & Fairy Week (28th May – 2nd June). Dreygo The Dragon brings mythical magic to Wheelgate Park with his smoke - breathing nostrils and incredible 15ft wingspan. Take part in the walkabout Dragon experience. All included in day tickets and annual pass purchases. Simply turn up on the day no pre-booking required. Performance times on event notices around the park. NG22 8HX

White Post Farm – Witchcraft & Wizardry Week (28th May – 31st May). Join White Post Farm as they transform into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Wander through the Forbidden Walk-through and try on the Hat of Houses to find out where you belong. Take part in Charms Class make your own wand, plant some mystical seeds and attend the Wizardry Sports training. Plus, a Magic 101 show. BOOK ONLINE to avoid missing out. All ages welcome. Lakeside Arts – Wheee! Theatre & Dance Festival – (26th May – 8th June). International Festival of Theatre and Dance for children. With high-quality shows in the theatre, and a Free Family Weekend in the park on the 1st of June. Time: 10 am onwards. Erewash Museum – Bugs Week – (28th May – 31st May) Fun filled week of bug and animal themed activities at the museum. Fun crafts and fun trail Tuesday to Thursday and Friday Animal magic parties and so much more. Pre-booking is essential. Tickets available to purchase from the museum. Price £2.50 per child. DE7 5JA

Thoresby Park – Space Trail – (25th May – 2nd June). Become a space explorer for the day and take part in a space-themed trail around the grounds. The trail runs from 10 am – 4 pm. Price: £1:00 per trail available to purchase at the visitor centre.

The Grange Hall – Mines & Monsters (Sunday 26th May).12:00 pm – 4:00 pm Themed Minecraft event with Minecraft displays and attractions, costume competitions with Minecraft prizes. Costume characters, virtual reality, ps4 multiplayer gaming and much much more. Door Price - Standard entry £4.00. Under 10 £3.00. Free entry for under 1s. Tilly Pots – Slime Making (Tues 28th May)  

Learn to make 3 different slimes adding glitter, colour and much more. All slimes made can be taken home on the day. The workshop will last for an hour (1:30 pm)Price: £7.50 per session. NG15 9DP

New Art Exchange – A Cut and Stick Story (Tues 28th - Fri 31st)  

Learn how to turn collages of colourful paper and pattern into short animations. Creating your own puppets and having fun learning to animate your character. Age: 7-10 years old. 10:30 – 12:30 pm. Pre-booking advised online. Free event - book tickets at – nae.cloudvenue.co.uk

Tilly Pots – Princess or Dragon Pottery Painting (Tues 28th May)  

Paint your very own Princess or Dragon choosing your colours and designs. Items will be ready to collect one week after the event. Booking essential. The workshop will last 1 hour 15 minutes and drinks and biscuits will be provided during the workshop. 3 pm. Price: £9 per session. NG15 9DP

New Art Exchange – Gifted (Tues 28th & Wed 29th)

Test your animation skills. Create an illustrative self with all things that represent you. Work with Ipads to learn how to turn your work into a gif of your own, taking expressing your style to a whole new level. Age 11-16 years old.14:00pm – 17:00 pm. Pre-booking advised. Thoresby Park – Wonderdome Mobile Planetarium (Wed 29th May).

A mobile space show inside a 360-degree immersive inflatable cinema. Inside you will learn about space and astronomy through an interactive show. The sessions last for 30 minutes. Places are limited. Green Windmill & Science Centre Mini Pizza Baking – (Thurs 30th May).

Bake your own delicious pizzas and choose some favourite toppings for your pizza. Booking essential. To book a place for this activity, please call 01159156878. There are six 45 - minute sessions taking place at 10:15 am, 11 am, 11:45 am and 1 pm. 1:45pm and 2:30pm. For ages 3+. £5 per child. NG2 4QB
