Get your Xmas jumpers out, wrap up warm and join in on some local seasonal events

Wondering what to do this weekend? You could choose one of these events to get into the seasonal spirit. Go on, get your Christmas jumpers on, wrap up warm and join in on some local festive events :) 

Here are 9 family-friendly events happening in Nottingham this weekend (2nd & 3rd December 2017).

The Magical Toy Testing Lab at Intu Victoria Centre

Wow, you might have trouble getting the kids away from this one! Children get to enter the Toy Testing Lab and work at qualifying to become a fully fledged and official Toy Tester! Once qualified they get to test all of the best toys from local toy shops including House of Fraser and The Entertainer.

Entry price is £3 and the fun starts at 11 am and finishes at 5 pm.  

Scrap Saturday at PlayWorks

Playworks is inviting families to join in on their creative workshop at their premises on Alfred Street North. Families get to explore different themes, experiment with craft materials and all sorts of creative tools from their scrap store. Their drop-in workshops are free to attend and families can drop in at any time between 10 am and 12 pm. 

Christmas at Nottingham Castle

Santa will be waiting in the bastion for pre-booked visits from little ones. There’s also a children’s Christmas Trail and the opportunity to make a paper chain or write a letter to the big man before visiting him.

There’s Mulled wine, mince pies, and a festive fayre to enjoy as well as a wintery walk around the castle grounds. 

Winter Wonderland at Timmermans

Timmerman's Garden Centre in Woodborough is offering Grotto visits to see Santa for £6.50 including a gift, and from December the 2nd they also have their first Breakfast with Santa of the season.

Breakfast with Santa includes a scrummy full breakfast, a grotto visit and a gift for £10 per child.

Watch Elf with the Sunset Cinema Club at Woodthorpe Park!

Get warm and snuggly and watch a festive treat. Sunset Cinema Club is running two films over the weekend. On Saturday at 4.30pm they have a seasonal family favourite showing, Elf!

Elf will be watched under the Polytunnels at Woodthorpe Park. Take your woolies, hot water bottle, blankets and cushions then settle down, snuggle and enjoy the view.

Tickets must be bought in advance and are priced from £8 per child. 

Christmas at Wollaton Hall

From 11 am on the 2nd December Wollaton Hall are inviting Children to join in on one of their spooky Cave tours. Santa will be there in his cosy grotto waiting for children to share their special wishes. Prices are £5 per child for the Cave tour and £5 per child for the grotto. 

The Iona School Advent Fayre. Saturday 2nd Dec, 10.30am – 4 pm

Celebrate the Christmas season with Iona school in Sneinton Dale. They have lots of festivities for families to enjoy together. There will be lots of craft activities including wreath making, games, a craft market, tasty waffles and a seasonal café. 

West Bridgford Christmas lights switch-on

This is a fun, all day event, starting at 9 am and finishing at 6 pm on Central Avenue. They’ll be live entertainment, a fun fair, festive food and craft stalls to enjoy.

At Gordon Square between 1pm-7pm, there’ll be entertainment from Mr. Balloony, music, mascots and all sorts of other family fun including a free mini ice rink and a free grotto! 

Woodthorpe Park plant Shop and Craft Market

Take a walk through Woodthorpe Park up to the Plant Shop where there will be a craft market providing all sorts of yummy foods and interesting festive items including jams, pickles, decorations, and candles. They’ll be selling Christmas trees too, so if you haven’t got yours yet, you might find the perfect one there!
